Appreciation Breakfast for Sen. Ogden to be Held Sept. 30
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – Sen. Steve Ogden will be the guest of honor on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 8–9 a.m. at a breakfast hosted by the Center on Disability and Development. This event is free and open to the public but reservations are appreciated. It will be held at the Blue Baker restaurant off of University Drive.
“Sen. Ogden was a primary advocate in passing key legislation that positively impacts the lives of people with disabilities," says the Center's associate director, Dr. Amy Sharp. "We’re putting on this event to show our appreciation to him and to spread public policy awareness regarding community services for Texans with disabilities."
During the past legislative session, Sen. Ogden penned and helped pass Texas Senate Bill #1 Rider #48, which increased the number of waivers for people with disabilities who want the option to live in the community.
At the breakfast, Center staff will give a summary of the wide-reaching impact of this legislation and personally thank Sen. Ogden for his support of initiatives like this one.
